The lenght-weight relationship was calculated as W=0.0172L2.68; R2=0.71. Mean condition factor of males and females varied between 0.66-0.87% and 0.68-.0.86%, while mean GSI values were 0.34-4.83% and 0.47-5.95%, respectively. Percentage meat yield of males and females were varied as 64.21-75.56 and 64.20-81.50, respectively.Item Çanakkale Balık Halinde pazarlanan su ürünleri ve Çanakkale Bölgesi üretim miktarlarının karşılaştırılması.(Ege Üniversitesi Su Ürünleri Fakültesi Dergisi, 2002) Tekinay, Ahmet Adem; Alpaslan, Mustafa; Özen, Özcan; Akyüz, Pınar; Güroy, DeryaA comparison between the records of Çanakkale Fish Market and fisheries production of Çanakkale Region from 1996 to 2001. In this study, Çanakkale Fish Market records and Çanakkale fisheries production data obtained from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Province Directorate of Çanakkale were investigated from 1996 to 2001. The highest market records (432.0 ton) and fisheries productions (22 050.6 ton) were observed in 2001. For the years investigated, the sum of the monthly production in the fish market were highest in October and November (183.6 and 183.5 ton, respectively). A total of 65 different marine species were recorded in Çanakkale Fish Market whereas only 25 different marine species were reported by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Province Directorate of Çanakkale. Although the greatest amount in the Fish Market were gilt sardine, anchovy, and bluefish, the greatest fishing production in the Çanakkale region were reported as gilt sardine, tuna and bluefish. In contrast to the fishing production of Çanakkale region, tuna entered the Fish Market only in August, 2001. Çanakkale Fish Market records and the fishing production of Çanakkale region did not differ only in the amount but also in the species composition. Based on such conflicting statistics, decisions on fisheries management would be erroneous.Item A Comparative Analysis of Istanbul Fish Market Records Between 1998 and 2001(Ege Üniversitesi Su Ürünleri Fakültesi Dergisi, 2003) Tekinay, Ahmet Adem; Alpaslan, Mustafa; Özen, Özcan; Akyüz, Pınar; Kahyaoğlu, Gülçin Ebru; Güroy, DeryaA total of 86 different fish species were recorded in Istanbul Fish Market between 1998 and 2001. During these years, the highest productions were recorded for european anchovy (Engraulis encrasicholus Linnaeus, 1758), horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus Linnaeus, 1758), bonito (Sarda sarda Bloch, 1793), bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix Linnaeus, 1766) and whiting (Merlangius merlangus euxinus Nordmann, 1840). Total production amount of these 5 species was 80.1% of the production for the investigated years. Annual fish production varied between 23825 and 25228 ton from 1998 to 2000, however, the total production of 2001 was recorded as 36771 ton, an increase of 51%. November and October were observed as the highest production months during the fouryear period. In 2001, the highest increase in terms of percentage compared to the previous three years production was observed in bluefish (497%).Item Organik balık üretiminin mevcut durumu.(Ege Üniversitesi Su Ürünleri Fakültesi Dergisi, 2006) Tekinay, Ahmet Adem; Güroy, Derya; Arifoğlu, NazanCurrent status of organic fish production. Fish that are produced under natural conditions in accordance with the principles of organic agriculture without any use of preservative additives and without any genetic modifications, that are fed feed produced from natural raw materials, that are certified by a qualified institution are defined as ‘organic fish’. Organic fish production is a production model that emphasizes human health without using pesticides, chemical and genetically modified products as well as ensuring animal welfare by decreasing the stocking density. This alternative model is used in many developed and developing countries in the world and the demand for this product has been the cause of increase in production amount and species variety in the market, although the model comprises 0,01% of the world aquaculture production. However organic aquaculture production has not been developed as rapid as organic agriculture. One of the most important reasons of this is the absence of international standards issued for organic aquaculture production. In this paper, the production principles of a number of authorized institutions certifying organic aquaculture are comparatively discussed. Key Words: Organic fish, organic aquaculture, certificationItem Balık üretiminden kaynaklanan kirlilik ve çözüm yolları(Ege Üniversitesi Su Ürünleri Fakültesi Dergisi, 2006) Tekinay, Ahmet Adem; Güroy, Derya; Çevik, NazanAquaculture pollution mainly originates from the physical and chemical characteristics of feed and the applied feeding management. The production of fish feed by using the extruder technology prevents the dust and broken particles formation by enhancing the water stability of feed. Feed loss is prevented by controlling the sinking rates of feed. By using the appropriate mechanical equipment during feed production, the feed density can be adjusted according to the freshwater and marine environment. Instead of oil spraying, the use of vacuum coating for oil addition of feed prevents oil leakage into the aquatic environment. The choice of highly digestible feed ingredients with low cellulose content and the application of heat treatment (85 – 90 °C) for an appropriate period of time to feed in the preconditioner decreases fecal waste production by increasing carbohydrate digestibility. The balancing of the Nitrogen: Phosphorus and Protein: Energy ratios in the feed formulations provide the decreasing of the amount of dissolved ammonium, and phosphorus released to the environment. The pollution, due to fish feeding, may be also minimized through developing feeding tables according to the Thermal Growth Coefficient (TGC) of fish based on the characteristics of the fish farmsItem Çanakkale Boğazı ve civarında yakalanan istavrit balığının bazı biyolojik özellikleri.(Ege Üniversitesi Su Ürünleri Fakültesi Dergisi, 2006) Güroy, Derya; Kahyaoğlu, Gülçin Ebru; Özen, Özcan; Tekinay, Ahmet AdemSome biological parameters of horse mackerel Trachurus trachurus (L., 1758) caught from the Dardanelles. Growth parameters and gonadosomatic index (GSI) (%) of 459 horse mackerel Trachurus trachurus (L. 1758) were studied in Dardanelles between September 2001 and August 2002. The age composition of the sampled population varied between 0 and 3, where the 0-age group contained the highest number of fish (59.0%). The population was composed of 57% females and 43% males, respectively. The total length varied from 8.80 to 25.90 cm and the body weight varied from 8.50 to 171.72 g. The Von Bertalanffy equation was estimated as Lt = 30.34 (1 – e -0.255 (t + 2.481)) for both sexes combined. Maximum monthly mean of the GSI for males (3.77%) and females (3.91%) were observed in April 2003Item Bezelye protein konsantresinin granyöz (Argyrosomus regius) balıklarında büyüme performansı biyolojik parametreler vücut kompozisyonu ve amonyak boşaltımı üzerine etkileri.(Ege Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2017) Güroy, Derya; Mantoğlu, Serhan; Karadal, OnurUsing of alternative plant/animal based (except fish meal) raw materials is one of the most important application for decreasing feed cost in finfish feeds. Meagre which is demanded from many countries because of its efficient meat quality and flovur and showed rapid growth under culture conditions is a potential species. A nutrition trial with meagre, Argyrosomus regius was undertaken to evaluate the effect of replacing dietary fishmeal (FM) protein with pea protein concentrate (PPC). A diet with FM as the main protein source was used for the control diet (FM). Four experimental diets were formulated to progressively replace 15% (PPC15), 30% (PPC30), 45% (PPC45) and 60% (PPC60) of FM protein. The study was carried out in 450-L fiberglass tanks connected to a closed recirculation system. Eighteen fish per tank were randomly distributed into 15 tanks with three replicates. The diets were tested in triplicate for 12 weeks. The specific growth rate (SGR) of fish fed diet PPC15 were not significantly different compared to fish fed the FM diet (P>0.05). Meagre fed FM, PPC15 and PPC30 had significantly lower FCR compared with fish fed PPC45 and PPC60 (P<0.05). Total ammonia-nitrogen (TAN) excretion increased with elevated dietary PPC inclusion. In conclusion, using 15% of pea protein concentrate in meagre feeds has been recommended.Item Effects of Dietary Spirulina (Arthrospira sp.) on Flesh Quality of Freshwater and Marine Fish(2018-11-12) Güroy, Derya; Karadal, Onur; Güroy, BetülItem Microalgae Species Used as Natural Pigment Sources on Skin Coloration of Various Aquarium Fishes(International Agriculture, Environment and Health Congress, 2018-11-12) Güroy, Derya; Karadal, Onur; Güroy, BetülSkin coloration is one of the most important marketing criteria in aquarium fish. Aquarists desire brilliant and vital colours on their fish. But the coloration of fish is very sensitive and is affected by many physical or chemical stressors. In adverse environmental conditions fish lose colour and some colour pigments cannot be synthesized by their bodies. Carotenoids are one of the non-synthesizable pigments in fish species and must be taken from the outside. Most of photosynthetic organism have various colour pigments in their natural structure, such as β-carotene, phycocyanin, astaxanthin and chlorophyll. Fish recover colour pigments when they fed with the algae species. These algae are used in aquaculture as a protein source for larvae of marine and freshwater fish and shellfish. Also, they are used as a pigment source in aquarium fish and invertebrates. In this study, effects and benefits of algae species on coloration of aquarium fishes were reviewed.Item Artificial sex reversal of white grouper (Epinephelus aeneus) utilizing aromatase inhibitor (Fadrozole)(Aquaculture Research, 2019-03-20) Evliyaoğlu, Ece; Eroldoğan, Orhan Tufan; Yılmaz, Hatice Asuman; Genç, Münevver Ayçe; Genç, Ercüment; Duncan, Neil; Aktaş, Mevlüt; Güroy, DeryaThe white grouper is a desirable aquaculture species that adapts to captivity, grows well and commands a high market price. However, little is known about reproductive biology or control of sex reversal of this protogynous hermaphrodite. In this study, female white groupers were implanted with one dose of 17α‐methyltestosterone (10 mg/kg body weight [BW], MT) and two doses of aromatase inhibitor, fadrozole (1 and 3 mg/kg BW, FD1 and FD3) once a month for 4 months (April–July). At the start of the study, the fish had gonads full of oocytes compared to the end of the experi‐ment when the control group mature oocytes compared to the experimental groups MT, FD1 and FD3 that exhibited different stages of testicular tissue. Plasma levels of testosterone were significantly highest in the FD3 group and the highest 11 -Ketotestosterone levels were observed in the MT group. Plasma levels of oestradiol (E2) were significantly lower in the FD implanted groups, compared to initial individu‐als and control groups. The use of aromatase inhibitor, FD for sex reversal both gives further insight into the mechanisms controlling sex differentiation and provides an alternative to steroid treatmentItem Havayolu Firmalarının Sosyal Medya Verilerinden Hisse Değerinin Tahmin Edilmesi(2nd International Conference on Data Science and Applications (ICONDATA’19), 2019-10-06) Uyrun, Ömer Faruk; Sabuncu, İbrahimBu çalışmada Twitter üzerinden Türk Havayolları (THY) firmasına ait 01.01.2018- 31.12.2018 tarihleri arasında paylaşılan tweet verileri çekilmiştir. In this event caused by free radicals called autooxidation. Antioxidants helps free radi-cals to stabilize and minimize the damage they cause. Extracts that can be obtained from natural sources, especially medicinal / aromatic plants, can be used as an aid to preserve foods by showing anti-oxidant and antimicrobial properties. This study was carried out to extend the shelf life of seafood prod-ucts by using natural antioxidant and antimicrobial sources. For this purpose, the sepals and leaves ob-tained from persimmon (Diospyros kaki), cherry lau-rel (Laurocerasus officinalis) and Likapa (Vaccin-ium myrtillus) were dried and dried at 60 ° C and then 2.5% and 5% vegetable extracts were obtained. Then used in the specified proportions to cover the mussels with edible films. Coated products were stored at + 4 ° C. Quality changes were examined on days 0, 2 and 4. In the study, the characteristics of edible films used in coating the product were deter-mined. The highest TS and EB values were respec-tively in the group HB (0.61MPa) and LA (34.07%), and the lowest WVP, WS and SD values were LA (0.34 10-10 g H2O Pa-1s-1m-1), HB (56.71%) and KA (35.79%). It was determined that TVB-N values of film-coated products exceeded the consumable limit value of the other groups on the 4th day, except HB, LB and KB groups. TBA values of products covered with edible film did not exceed the consumable limit values during storage. The lowest TBA values were determined in LA, LB and KB groups. On the 2nd day of storage, the highest and lowest total aerobic mesophilic and psychrophilic results were found 5.97 log CFU / g (HB) and 4.62 log CFU / g (LA) respectively, on day 4, all groups exceeded the 7 log CFU / g limit value. According to the results of anal-ysis carried out during storage, it was observed that LB group had a positive effect on product quality compared to other groups.Item ELEŞTİREL TEORİ ÜZERİNE GENEL BİR BAKIŞ(TURAN-SAM: TURAN Stratejik Araştırmalar Merkezi, 2021-03) Ekici, Kübra DerenABSTRACT In the study, it is aimed to give a basic information about critical theory.
